I See Your Voice, There Was a Silence
First exhibited at The Alchemy Experiment, Glasgow, UK, in August 2022
This series of paintings from 2022 illustrates a process of artisan experimentation with various methods of distortion of different types of sewn together stretched fabrics with various transparencies to attain a 'patina' accumulation across the composition. Series of actions were performed to achieve this - such as burning, overlaying, stitching, ripping off the fabric - in order to fabricate a landscape of 'trauma' through layering which also enhances the paintings' three dimensional properties.
The suggestive figurative painted layer follows a separate narrative whilst interacting with the frame which is veiled but visible. The paintings explore a varied set of compositions depending on the stitching pattern, collaged set of materials varying from plastic, chiffon and dyed canvas.
