Tension Study 03 (Lovers)

2025 7 minute motorised performance metal, latex, inflation and deflation pump, timers 88’’x14’’x12’’ Tension Study 03 (Lovers) is a motorised durational sculpture that merges the identity of architectural ventilation and structural systems with the somatic and physiological processes of sentient bodies. The work investigates a closed-loop pump exchange in which two latex volumes, encased within a steel beam-like structural system, are simultaneously inflated and deflated. Each form relies solely on the other’s air. Their brief rhythmic seven-minute exchange is gradually interrupted by the slow loss of air through the pump system, causing both inflatables to diminish in volume until they can no longer function.
